# Multiple cluster algebra structures for TCD maps I: theoretical framework

## One-sentence takeaway

Triple-crossing-diagram maps are a single projective language for discrete differential geometry whose local moves are multi-dimensionally consistent and carry two related cluster algebra structures.

## Why it's lovely

Why you might love this: One diagram language (TCD maps) unifies Q-nets, pentagram map, and two cluster structures — discrete geometry as mutation.

## Problem

Q-nets, Darboux maps, line complexes, T-graphs, t-embeddings, the pentagram map, and cross-ratio dynamics each reinvent discrete projective geometry with its own coordinates. Cluster algebras appear repeatedly but without a common carrier. Is there one diagram object that hosts them all and explains the cluster mutations?

## Design

- TCD maps encode projective configurations of points and lines via triple-crossing diagrams.
- Two local moves; one governed by the discrete Schwarzian KP (dSKP) equation; multi-dimensional consistency proved.
- Two cluster structures on the space of TCD maps — projective and affine — related by a section operation.
- Organises Q-nets, Darboux maps, line complexes, T-graphs, t-embeddings, triangulations, pentagram map, cross-ratio dynamics (companion papers develop examples).

## Evidence

Consistency theorems and explicit cluster charts in arXiv 2601.08944; companion/example threads include 2108.12692 and 2305.02212 (cited, not minted).

## Limitations

Theoretical framework paper (Part I); concrete dynamics live in companions. Not a remint of cluster foundations (1086) or plabic/total-positivity (1123).

## Implications for Broadside

Curiosity already keeps cluster foundations (1086), plabic/positroid lineage (1123), and arctic/tiling geometry. TCD is the discrete-DDG carrier that makes cluster mutation *look like* a local rewrite — same instinct as string-diagram critical pairs (1027) in another universe.

## Bottom line

Mint the TCD atlas. Discrete projective geometry finally has a common diagram.
